Volunteering At Mountain View Elementary
Volunteers are an important part of what makes our schools great places to learn and grow. We value and appreciate the support of our volunteers. Volunteers have various roles at our schools including:
- School council members and participants
- Field trip supervisors
Please contact the school's office if you’re interested in volunteering and would like to know more about the opportunities available. If you are planning on attending any field trips or volunteering for the 2024/2025 school year, please see below for details on how you can apply this fall. You may start this process in September once the school year has started to avoid the backlog that can happen as all schools require volunteers to complete a records check.
To become a volunteer in a Simcoe County District School Board school, you must:
- Go to scdsb.on.ca
- Create an account within the Volunteer Portal through SCDSB Community Apps. Please remember to choose the school you wish to volunteer with (Mountain View Elementary).
- Complete accessibility training.
- Obtain a Volunteer Letter from the school
- Visit www.opp.ca and complete the online record check application
- Submit a current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). Schools require all VSC’s to be in their original form and emailed directly to the office for processing. Please note, volunteers are unable to upload VSC’s directly to the Volunteer Portal.
- The link to your approved VSC can only be opened 3 times and the link is only available for 10days. Please print or save a copy for your records.
If you do not have a computer or require assistance, please contact the school at (705) 445-1501
Current volunteers
Current approved volunteers please remember to sign your offense declaration at the beginning of the school year through the online portal. You must keep the Community Apps account/Volunteer Portal information up-to-date with email address changes. Communication is sent throughout the year to the provided email address with respect to timelines, necessary requirements, etc. regarding your volunteer status. Updating your email address in your Community Apps account will automatically update your email address in your Volunteer Portal.
